CZELO

As in the previous year, applications that meet the criteria of sustainability, inclusion and aesthetics will be evaluated

European Commission has launched a call for applications for the New European Bauhaus Prizes, which follows up on last year's successful first year, when more than 2,000 excellent ideas, concepts and projects took part in the initiative. As in the previous year, applications that meet the criteria of sustainability, inclusion and aesthetics will be evaluated.

Prizes will be awarded in 4 different categories:

  • reconnecting with nature,
  • regaining a sense of belonging,
  • prioritising the places and people that need it the most, and
  • shaping a circular industrial ecosystem and supporting life-cycle thinking.

Each of the four categories contains two parallel competition sections. For existing completed projects, it is the "New European Bauhaus Award". The second parallel section of the "Rising Stars of the New European Bauhaus" will focus on concepts or ideas submitted by young talent under the age of 30.

The application deadline is 28 February 2022 at 19:00 CET. The application shall specify in a concrete and detailed way how the project or concept embodies the three core values on which the New European Bauhaus initiative is based on and must also analyse its innovative dimension. In the case of the "Rising Stars of the New European Bauhaus" section, applicants shall also indicate the detailed steps that are planned for the further development or implementation of the concept or idea.

The applications may be done by both individuals or organisations (territorial administration, project promoter or organiser, etc). Joint applications by several individuals or several organisations are allowed too. Applicants can be from or outside the EU if their concept or project was developed and /or physically located in the EU. In the case of "rising stars", people under the age of 30 can enter both competition categories by February 28.

More information, conditions of the Prizes, and how to apply can be found in applicants guide or on the European Commission´s website.
