Three more Czech universities became part of the European Universities

Erasmus+ CZELO

There are 14 newly approved alliances in the latest call, bringing the total to 64, of which 12 involve Czech HEIs.

On Friday 28 June, the European Commission published the results of this year's European University Call, which provides financial support to alliances of higher education institutions. The 50 European University Alliances already supported are joined by 14 new alliances, each receiving up to €14.4 million over four years.

Achieving one of the goals of the European Strategy for Universities

The current 64 alliances include more than 560 higher education institutions of all types across Europe. The European Commission has thus achieved the European Strategy fo Universities´ target of at least 60 alliances with more than 500 participating HEIs by mid-2024.

It is also intended to support the dissemination of reusable results and models of international cooperation between alliances across the higher education sector. Seventeen alliances are involved as full partners in the creation of the Community, including the 4EU+ alliance, of which Charles University is a member, and the U!REKA SHIFT alliance, of which VŠB-TUO is a member. All the remaining 47 alliances are associate partners.

Outlook to the future

This was the last call for new alliances: there will be no call in 2025, and the Commission is preparing calls for two-year funding for supported alliances in 2026 and 2027.
