Public consultation: Environmental sustainability – education and training

CZELO

Vocational education and training sector as a key player in the efforts towards a greener and more sustainable Europe?

Through the European Green Deal, the EU is gradually taking action to tackle climate change and encourage all citizens to work towards greener and more sustainable Europe. Vocational education and training are essential in this regard - they help citizens and local communities to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for such transformation.

  • Can vocational education and training institutions play a key role in tackling climate change?
  • Do teachers or students themselves really have potential to be the driving force of this transformation?
  • How can we ensure that young people acquire the right skills for the green jobs of the future?

The European Commission is now inquiring in this public consultation, the inputs  will be reflected in a draft proposal for a Council Recommendation on education for environmental sustainability, to be adopted by the Commission in late 2021.

It seeks to approach a variety of citizens, educators, researchers, governmental and non-governmental organizations (international, European, national, regional and local) as well as stakeholders in the education and training sector.

Have your say by filling in the online questionnaire the consultation is open until 24 September 2021.
