During the Research and Innovation Days which took place on 23 and 24 June 2021, the European Commission launched a new coronavirus collaboration portal that offers a collaborative tool supporting research and innovation projects conducted by organizations and researchers across the globe who are involved in Coronavirus related research and focusing primarily on the socio-economic aspects of the pandemic. The initiative supports the ’Global Approach to Research and Innovation’. It reconfirms Europe's commitment to a level of global openness that is needed to drive excellence, pool resources to achieve scientific progress and develop vibrant innovation ecosystems.

The portal is open to research organisations and individual researchers from all over the world, helping them to:

  • Collaborate on research projects related to the socio-economic aspects of the pandemic
  • Create networking and matchmaking opportunities
  • Connect with other researchers and increase the impact of their activities
  • Coordinate the sharing of information
