The Global Gateway will help address the global investment gap and the most pressing global challenges.

On 1 December, the European Commission and the European Union launched a new European strategy called Global Gateway, which should help address the global investment gap. The strategy will invest €300 billion between 2021 and 2027 in quality infrastructure, equal partnerships, links and networks in digital technology, climate, energy, transport, health, education and research. The strategy aims at international stability and cooperation between Member States and partner countries in these areas and at facilitating solutions to pressing global challenges such as the climate crisis and health security. Respect of the social and environmental standards and transparency in line with EU democratic values and international norms and standards is an important part of the Global Gateway.
