Follow the Green Track together with other young Europeans

European Commission has launched a campaign to protect the nature and biodiversity.

On Tuesday 8 March the European Commission, in collaboration with the Global Youth Biodiversity Network, launched a campaign for young people called The Green Track to protect nature. This campaign is one of the flagship initiatives of the European Year of Youth 2022 and it aims to provide a platform for young people to share and exchange views on nature, biodiversity and the sustainable future of Europe, under the main motto "Ready to act #ForNature".

The initiative offers young people the opportunity to take part in the debate, share their views and take part in more than 30 online and face-to-face events on nature, biodiversity and sustainability. In cooperation with youth organizations across the EU, the Commission wants to enable young people to take an active part in building a common future. The platform is divided into five main thematic areas, namely nature, circular economy, zero pollution, lifestyle and climate. Within each of the topics, information can be found on the main challenges, how the European Commission addresses the issue and what involvement opportunities young people and volunteers have.

Last but not least, with this initiative the Commission also wants to mobilize young people ahead of this year's UN Biodiversity Conference COP 15, where it is expected the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework will be agreed on.

Virginijus Sinkevičius, EU Commissioner for the Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, emphasized the importance of involving young people in addressing current societal issues in the framework of the European Green Deal and called on all young people to join the campaign.
