Five Western Balkan countries join Horizon Europe

CZELO

The association is an important milestone for closer cooperation with the Western Balkans in research and innovation.

On 6 December, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia signed an Association Agreement with the European Commission, allowing them to join Horizon Europe on the same terms as EU Member States.

All these countries except Kosovo were already fully involved in Horizon 2020, but Kosovo is a newcomer to the programme. Participation in Horizon Europe will contribute to the further integration of the Western Balkans into the European Research Area.

More information on the association of these countries can be found on the European Commission website.
