Does your region support and implement innovation? Get the label “Regional Innovation Valley”

European Commission is looking for regions that support and implement innovation (including deep tech). Apply your region for the ongoing call for expression of interest for Regional Innovation Valleys to add your region to the list of the EU´s most innovative regions by earning the label of European Innovation Valley.
The objective is to mobilize and strengthen European Innovation ecosystems, support and deepen cooperation between regions, accelerate the development and implementation of innovation and lessen the innovation divide. The call is an integral part of the New European Innovation Agenda.
Regions that want to be regional innovation valleys must meet the following criteria:
- Increase regional R&D funding and policy cooperation and direction in EU priority areas.
- Engage in interregional collaboration (within common/complementary areas of smart specialization) to close the "innovation gap" across regions.
- Increase the strength and connectivity of regional innovation ecosystems (for example, through joint innovation action plans) based on collaborative/complementary smart specialization methods or involvement in Regional Innovation Partnerships (PRIs).
The call is open to regions at the NUTS 1 and NUTS 2 levels. Deadline for applications is 18 September 2023.
